Cast Iron

Do you live in a home that was built before 1975? If so, the chances are your plumbing’s drainage system is composed of cast-iron pipes. Cast iron pipes can corrode over time compromising their structural integrity and eventually, leading to breaks, collapse, channel rot and backup of sewage water into your home.

The lifespan of a Cast-Iron System is typically limited to between 40 and 50 years, though it is not uncommon for these systems to develop problems at 25 years or less, depending on the circumstances. Florida homes are especially susceptible to this type of pipe corrosion, mainly because of the salt and moisture-rich environment.

As is common in Florida, the Insurance Companies are working against the interests of Homeowners. As this issue has become more prevalent, Insurance Companies have rushed to rewrite policies to exclude coverage for this problem.

In the meantime, they are delaying and denying claims of current policyholders facing these issues. The longer you wait to file your claim, the less likely you are to get the coverage you deserve and the more likely you are to receive limited or no money at all...
